Why Are Non-Americans Being Penalized By The Internet Giants

I really need to get this off my chest…

Quite a number of the companies I do business with on the Internet have strange standards when it comes to Non-Americans. Here’s what I mean…

I have used Apple Macintosh computers since 1985 because I love their computer and think they build superior machines. However, now that they have released a product that I really would like to use – the iPhone, it is only available to Americans.

Then we come to Yahoo… I have also been using Yahoo for a number of years and and very comfortable with them except in one area. I would like to put their contextual ads on my websites but am not allowed because that service is only available to Americans. And this is just the tip of the iceberg.

My BIG problem with this is that if they are an international company, then their products should be available to all the countries where people buy their goods. If we live in the age of the “global economy”, then the companies that benefit from that global economy should to my mind be a lot more flexible.

Google has a much better idea of what it means to be a global player. I just wish some of the other giants would get with the program and offer their goods and services worldwide.
