To make things simple we are going to divide the process of choosing a work at home business into four categories --You may want to choose one and focus on it but there's no reason why you can't do all four.

Category One
You can start a home business from scratch: You can develop your own product or service and sell it online. For example, you might make your own products and offer them for sale online. If you are a writer you could offer an articles service or you can offer a service such as religious counseling. You could enter the lucrative market of creating information products like Ebooks. The business possibilities are endless.

Category Two
If you feel you need more structured support, join a Direct Sales Company and market their products. There are hundreds of direct sales companies available offering everything from lingerie and health products care to cosmetics, craft products, and cookware. Independent representatives sign up under another representative or sponsor who will provide you with the information and support you need to begin your home business.

Category Three
You can start a home business by reselling products you buy wholesale: If you don't want to develop your own products, you can resell other people's products. You can buy them at wholesale and ship them out from your home. Or you may prefer the ease of having somebody dropship the products for you. This means the company from which you buy wholesale does all the shipping for you. You just take the orders.

Category Four
If you don't have your own product or service to sell, you can market someone else's products using affiliate programs. With an affiliate program, you are paid a percentage of sales that are made when you refer someone to a company's website. The buyer clicks on your affiliate link and makes a purchase. Tracking is offered by some affiliate programs tracking the visitors from your link. They will pay a commission for clicks which produce sales within a certain period of time.

By the Way...Job or business?

Many people, looking for an online business are moms want to work from home so they can care for their children while continuing to contribute to the household finances. They quickly realise that online jobs are few and often pay money for promises of work that never materialize.

Just as you wouldn't pay for a fast-food chain to hire you should not have to pay a fee to get a job. however, most businesses require some sort of investment to get started.
